Meditation is as important as lifting weights and being out here on the field for practice. It’s about quieting your mind and getting into certain states where everything outside of you doesn’t matter in that moment. There are so many things telling you that you can’t do something, but you take those thoughts captive, take power over them and change them. ~Seattle Seahawk left tackle, Russell Okung

Yoga class in Mirrormont will resume this week on Monday evening, January 12th, from 5 - 6 in the clubhouse. We'll take a page from the playbook of our beloved 2014 Superbowl Champions and 2015 Division Playoff winners, the Seattle Seahawks, and mirror their yoga and meditation practice.

“We do imagery work and talk about having that innovative mindset of being special. We talk about being in the moment and increasing chaos throughout practice, so when I go into the game, everything is relaxed.”

Seahawk coach and Superbowl Champion, Pete Carroll, is reshaping football with yoga and meditation!  He forces all of his players to take yoga classes during the season and believes it relaxes and increases the players’ focus during games.

Watch Seahawk kicker, Steve Haushka, warm up in yoga dolphin plank and locust variation before an important kick here.

Get your football yoga on!
