Two men look out the same prison bars; one sees mud and the other, stars. ~Frederick Langbridge

As many of you know, teaching the maximum security teenage boys
and girls at Echo Glen is one of the joys of my life. I am presently
privileged to serve on the Board of Yoga Behind Bars, the amazing
organization that brings the simple, transformative tools of yoga to
incarcerated men, women, and children in Washington state. YBB began with
one yoga teacher in one facility in 2008. Today over 40 yoga dedicated,
volunteer instructors teach 26 classes a week in 10 locations. Every day an average
of 30 incarcerated students practice yoga and meditation through our programs.
Eat, Drink, Give (Sunday, May 3rd, from 11:00 to 3:30), our annual fundraiser,
features a wonderful brunch at FareStart in Seattle with live music, a fabulous
auction, and guest speaker, Nova Guthrie. The money raised will enable more
classes so that more men, women, and teens can experience the rehabilitative
effects of yoga in prison. All three of the dear young women in the video below
are now out of prison and doing well!

Blessings,
Bonnie
